Vice President Reminds Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates About Debates: Don't Keep Carrying Out Debates, It Could Be Dangerous

Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said the ongoing debate over presidential and vice presidential candidates outside the official forum for organizing the 2024 General Election could have a negative impact on the mass of supporters on the ground.

"I don't think it's allowed. It's finished with the debate, it's finished with the debate, it's already wabillahi taufiq wal hidayah, don't keep taking it, it could be that danger," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin when delivering his comments about the presidential and vice presidential debates at a press conference session at Universitas Brawijaya Malang, East Java, reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 19.

According to the Vice President, the debate event is a demonstration of the'sacred' of the election contestants in arguing to convey criticism and evaluation for good.

"I think it should be even better, that the name is debate, yes debate, I think each of them issues its sacredness," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.

Ma'ruf said that the debate session that took place at the 2024 General Election should not be sustainable outside the arena, let alone involving the supporters of each candidate in the field.

"I don't think so, but not after the debate went on outside the debate. That's what's dangerous involves the masses," he said.

He hopes that all the debate contestants involved can be tolerant of the results of the evaluation and input that arise during the debate event.

Vice President Ma'ruf assessed that the series of debates for presidential and vice presidential candidates that had been going well.

"The first is good, the second I think should be improved again," he said.
