JAKARTA - The Association of Indonesian Energy, Mineral, and Coal Suppliers (Aspebindo) has proposed a criterion for granting mining business permits for universities and community organizations (ormas). Just so you know, the proposed granting of mining permits for universities is contained in Article 51 of the Draft Draft Law on the Fourth Amendment to Law No. 4/2009 on Mineral and Coal (UU Minerba).

Deputy Chairperson of Aspebindo, Fathul Nugroho advised the government to make certain criteria for the mining IUP offer such as limiting technical, operational and financial capabilities.

He clearly proposed that IUP be given to be auctioned for a certain period of time accompanied by prioritizing PT and mass organizations of 10 percent.

"So that other national business actors can still get the location of WIUP which we also propose," he said, quoted on Thursday, January 23.

Second, he suggested that the provision of IUP for universities not only focus on exploitation with an orientation of profit, but rather to increase scientific capacity as well as research and development.

"So that what they are doing in the mining process can get good mining practice, so that we can share it with private business actors," he said.

Third, Fathul also suggested that national business actors can collaborate with recipients of mining or mass mining business permits or PT in terms of providing recommendations for the best mining location.

"Don't get an IUP, but it's empty. Based on our experience in the field, if the IUP is sold, it's usually two possibilities, it's finished or empty. That means, with private collaboration, we have data that we can share potential locations," said Fathul.
