JAKARTA - The interim chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nawawi Pamolango criticized the basis for public officials or state administrators to submit a State Administrators Wealth Report (LHKPN).

In its rules, Nawawi said that the absence of strict sanctions by public officials negligently conveying wealth made LHKPN only considered administrative. As a result, non-compliance with LHKPN obligations by state officials is still high. "Currently, the complete submission of [LHKPN] is ignored by around 10,000 out of 371,000 state administrators," said Nawawi when opening the KPK Integrity Paku program which was attended by three presidential and vice presidential candidate candidates at the KPK Building, Kuningan, Jakarta, Wednesday, January 17.

For this reason, Nawawi said the KPK asked for a real commitment from the presidential and vice-presidential candidates when they were later elected to strengthen the role of LHKPN by imposing sanctions in the form of dismissal from public office to state officials who did not comply with the complete obligation to submit LHKPN.

"Similarly, dismissal from office for state officials if the examination shows that there are hidden assets, we ask that the elected president and vice president will later make LHKPN and the results of the LHKPN examination as one of the criteria for promoting the appointment of public positions," said Nawawi.

As for the activities of Paku Integrity initiated by the KPK, the three pairs of candidates for presidential and vice presidential candidates Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD were present.

The three candidate pairs conveyed the obstacles to corruption action and the importance of the future strengthening the KPK at an event held at the KPK building in Jakarta on Wednesday, January 17 evening.
