Prosecutors Demand Former Chairman Of KONI Dompu 7.5 Years In Prison In Corruption Cases Of Grant Funds

NTB - Prosecutors demanded 7.5 years in prison for the former chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Commission (KONI) of Dompu Regency, Putra Taufan in a case of alleged corruption in the management of grant funds in 2018-2021 worth IDR 11 billion.

"Demanding that the panel of judges impose a sentence against the defendant Putra Taufan with a sentence of seven years and six months in prison," said Ngurah Public Prosecutor (JPU) Gede Bagus Jatikusuma at the Corruption Court at the Mataram District Court, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Wednesday, January 17, confiscated by Antara.

The prosecutor also demanded that the defendant be fined Rp. 300 million, subsidiary to 4 months in prison.

"Requesting that the sentence imposed be reduced by the detention period that the defendant has served with an order that the defendant remains detained," he said.

The prosecutor also charged the defendant to pay compensation for state financial losses worth Rp1.1 billion, subsidiary 3 years and 8 months in prison.

The prosecutor's claim was based on the consideration that the defendant served as Chairman of KONI Dompu in charge of the emergence of state financial losses in managing grant funds.

By stating this, the prosecutor asked the panel of judges to declare that the defendant's actions were proven to have violated the first indictment of the public prosecutor's primary.

The indictment relates to Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law no. 20 of 2001 jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
