The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Council Holds An Ethics Session For Alleged Extortion At The Detention Center Today

JAKARTA - The Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) held an ethics trial for alleged illegal levies at the detention center (rutan) today, Wednesday, January 17. This closed trial will be attended by 15 out of a total of 93 employees suspected of being involved.

"Yes, around (15 employees were tried today, ed). Now, the 15 people are one file," said KPK Supervisory Board member Syamsuddin Haris to reporters, Wednesday, January 17.

Syamsuddin said that the 93 employees who would be tried for ethics were indeed separated according to the alleged ethical violation. The current KPK Council will focus first on abuse of authority involving 90 employees.

While the remaining three employees will be tried later. "If I'm not mistaken, yes, I also forgot to remember the bosses," he said.

The trial will later be chaired by the Chairman of the KPK Council, Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean, and Member of the KPK Council, Albertina Ho. "Tomorrow there will be another trial. The assembly is also two," explained Syamsuddin.

Previously reported, the KPK Council said that alleged ethical violations related to extortion in detention centers would drag 93 people. The number quoted from the detainees for additional facilities reached Rp6.1 billion.

"About Rp6,148 billion. That's the total in the Supervisory Board," Albertina said at a press conference at the ACLC KPK building, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Monday, January 15.

This number was obtained after the KPK Council examined 169 people consisting of 27 people who were former KPK detainees and 137 people were employees who had worked at the KPK Detention Center, said Albertina. In addition, there are also 65 proofs of documents to depositing money of various value ranging from Rp. 1 million.

"And the most receive is IDR 504 million. That's the most," he said.
