REJANG LEBONG - Bengkulu Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) Section I conducted an investigation into the discovery of tiger-like tracks in Selupu Rejang District, Rejang Lebong Regency.

Head of the Conservation Section of Region I BKSDA Bengkulu, Said Jauhari, said that his party had only just learned of the discovery of tiger-like tracks by residents in Sambirejo Village, Selupu Rejang District, Rejang Lebong Regency, after reading the news in the online media.

"We can't confirm whether it's a traces of a striped tiger or not. Because for the Rejang Lebong Regency area, we haven't found any traces for a long time. We have sent a team to check the location of the track discovery," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, January 11.

The location of the tiger-like trail was not found in the Bukit Kaba Volcano Park (TWA) area, which several years ago traces of the Sumatran Tiger were found. However, the location of its discovery was in the Sindang Pulanjung District, leading to the border to South Sumatra (Sumsel).

"Judging from the traces in the media photo, there is a possibility that it is a branched tiger. It is close to the TWA Bukit Kaba which is one of the habitats of the tree branches," he explained.

If the traces found are the Sumatran tiger, it will carry out evictions so that it will not cause conflict with humans.

Earlier on Thursday morning (11/1) a resident of Hamlet IV Sambirejo Village, Selupu Rejang District, named Yatno (35), admitted that he found tiger-like tracks in his garden.

Traces of tigers the size of an adult's hands were then immortalized using a cell phone camera and then spread on social media.

The discovery of tiger-like tracks has not yet been reported to BKSDA officers or TNKS officers in the area, he only reported the findings to the local hamlet head and forwarded to Sambirejo Village officials.
