Police Extend Cartenz Peace Task Force Until The End Of 2024

JAKARTA - The National Police has extended the tenure of the Task Force or the Cartenz Peace Task Force for the next year. The goal is to maintain security stability in Papua.

"The Cartenz Peace Operation will be extended starting from January 1 to December 31, 2024," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division Kombes Erdi A. Chaniago in his statement, Wednesday, January 10.

Operation Damai Cartenz is said to be implementing a work pattern as before. All personnel who are members of the task force will prioritize humanist and persuasive efforts.

"Operation Damai Cartenz prioritizes the function of community development, detection and community relations supported by law enforcement task forces," he said.

In addition, Erdi said that the Cartenz Peace Operation 2024 was carried out in the Papua Regional Police area. However, its priority targets are in the provinces of Central Papua and Papua Mountains.

"The priority targets are in the Regencies of the Bintang Mountains, Yahukimo, Mimika, Intan Jaya, Dogiyai, Puncak, Nduga, Jaya Wijaya and Jayapura," said Erdi.

For information, the Cartenz Peace Task Force was originally named the Nemangkawi Task Force. Then, changed on January 17, 2022.

One of its duties is to secure Papua from the terror acts of armed criminal groups or KKB.
