Coordinating Minister For Political, Legal And Security Affairs Guarantees Election Task Force Has No Conflict Of Interest

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD guarantees that the election task force at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs has no conflict of interest.

"Yes, in fact forming it (the Election Task Force) so that there is no conflict of interest (conflict of interest), (then) it is formed," Mahfud said at the Diocese Wisma Cathedral, Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, January 4.

Mahfud assessed that the Election Task Force did not have a conflict of interest because it did not handle the implementation of the election.

"That's one, what is it called, a permanent structure, and it's been around for a long time. And that doesn't handle the implementation of elections. There will be no conflict of interest," he said.

Mahfud explained that the task of the Election Task Force is to receive reports of election violations and forward them to related parties.

"There are reports of election violations. Later they will be distributed to Bawaslu (Ection Supervisory Agency), distributed to the police, and so on," he said.

In addition, Mahfud said that the report could be checked with related parties, such as the police.

"Well, we usually only get a copy of this report. We just have to check with the police, here, there are reports of so many numbers that have been followed up," said Mahfud.

In addition to serving as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud also participated in the 2024 Election contestation as a candidate for vice president number 3 paired with Ganjar Pranowo.
