Residents Of Makassar, East Jakarta Hope Police Routine Patrol To Prevent Youth Brawl

JAKARTA - Two groups of teenagers with sharp weapons were involved in attacking each other using samurai and sickles and stones on Jalan Pusdiklat Depnaker, Makasar District, East Jakarta. The action was caught on an amateur video camera.

Based on the video footage circulating, two groups of teenagers were seen running around carrying out attacks. Some of the perpetrators were equipped with sharp weapons in the form of sickles and large machetes held without any fear.

In addition, several other perpetrators also brought blunt objects such as wood and stones to be thrown at the opponent. The perpetrators of this brawl who are teenagers in charge amounted to around 30 people.

This brawl allegedly happened just because of mocking each other. Then the two groups made a promise through social media.

Although there were no victims, local residents admitted that they were restless. Residents are afraid of being victims of the wrong target and are worried that their valuables will be damaged due to being hit by stones.

Erik, one of the shop owners who was at the scene, said he was forced to hide during a brawl between groups of teenagers.

"If you are restless, there is only fear because they brought a knife, so they are afraid too," Erik told reporters, Thursday, January 4.

Erik said the number of brawlers was around 30. They are equipped with various types of sharp weapons and blunt objects.

"A lot, there are 30 people. Bring a samurai knife, sickle, wood and stone. For the victims (as a result of the brawl) I don't know, because I hid it. There was a samurai sound," he said.

Erik admitted that this area is often used as a brawl by a number of youth groups. There is no follow-up from the police regarding this incident.

"There has been a brawl from the start, the perpetrators of teenagers are responsible. Hopefully, ask the police to patrol to secure the environment so that it is safe. The brawl has just disbanded because it was dispersed by residents," he said.
