Police Examine 3 People Related To Cases Of Dozens Of Burning SPAM Project Pipes In East Lombok

East Lombok Resort Police, West Nusa Tenggara secured the location of dozens of pipes that were needed for the implementation of a water treatment project (IPA) and a distribution network of the South Coast Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) caught fire.

"TKP (the crime scene) has been secured, intelligence, criminal and police officers are already there to secure it. Now the location is the status quo," said East Lombok Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP I Made Dharma Yulia Putra as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, January 4.

He said the security of this location was part of the police's efforts to investigate the alleged burning of the pipe by the unknown person.

The police have arrested three people. This security is part of a request for information to trace the cause of the arson.

"So, only three people have been arrested as witnesses, they want to be interrogated first, they want to first investigate their statements," he said.

"What is certain is that regarding this incident we are still investigating. Later when there is a bright spot, we will convey it," he continued.

The South Coast SPAM project pipe caught fire at around 10.30 WITA. The location of the incident was in the Borok Lelet area, North Lendang Nangka Village, Masbagik District, East Lombok Regency.

From the results of the field inspection, the police noted that 36 pipes measuring 10 inch were burned. The positions of dozens of pipes that piled up at one location are under the bridge across the river.

The South Coast SPAM project cost IDR 151 billion. The budget comes from the support of the World Bank. Previously, the government targeted that the project to meet clean water needs in the southern region of Lombok Regency would be completed by the end of 2023.
