43,836 Passengers Crossing From Bali To Java During The Peak Of The New Year Holiday Backflow

DENPASAR - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) recorded as many as 43,836 passengers crossing from Gilimanuk Port (Bali) to Ketapang Port (Banyuwangi) on Monday (1/1) or the peak of the return flow of the 2023 Christmas and 2023 New Year holidays.

Corporate Secretary of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Shelvy Arifin said that according to the predictions and anticipation carried out by management, Monday (1/1) was the peak of the backflow of passengers and vehicles from Bali Island to Java, because Bali was quite crowded with tourists during the year holidays, both domestic and foreign.

"The peak of backflow at Gilimanuk Port (Bali) took place from Monday (1/1) afternoon to Tuesday (2/1) in the morning. Small vehicles were monitored, and buses moving from Bali to Java began to crowd the port area, so there was a queue. However, ASDP has anticipated it by accelerating the loading and unloading service, so the queues will be immediately addressed in a short time," said Shelvy, Tuesday, January 2.

According to him, on Monday (1/1) data from the Gilimanuk Command Post for 24 hours at the peak of the return flow, the realization of total passengers reached 43,836 people, an increase of 20 percent compared to the realization of the same period the previous year of 36,561 people.

In addition, said Shelvy, the total number of vehicles crossing from Balik to Java was 9,006 units, an increase of 24 percent compared to the realization of the same period last year of 7,281 vehicles.

In addition, said SHelvy, during the 2023 Christmas and New Year 2024 holidays, the IVmoveablebridge Pier has been operated at Gilimanuk Port which can serve large ships, so transportation services and passengers are more optimal.

"If conditions are normal on the Gilimanuk-Ketapang track, the number of four-wheeled fleets crossing an average of 2,000-3,000 units per 24 hours. Yesterday, there were 9,000 units of vehicles that flowed from noon to early morning," Shelvy said as quoted by Antara.

Meanwhile, data from the Ketapang Command Post for 24 hours (period 1 January 2024 at 08.00 WIB to 2 January 2024 at 08.00 WIB) or recorded the number of ships operating as many as 35 ships.

The realization of total passengers reached 22,039 people, an increase of 53 percent compared to the realization of the same period last year of 14,385 people, a total of 6,117 vehicles that had crossed from Java to Bali on D+7, an increase of 61 percent compared to the realization of the same period last year of 3,796 units.

Meanwhile, the total number of passengers crossing from Bali to Java from D-7 to D+7 was recorded at 428,779 people, an increase of 21 percent compared to the realization of the same period last year of 355,127 people.

The total number of vehicles that have crossed was recorded at 110,238 units, an increase of 26 percent compared to the realization of the same period last year of 87,479 units.
