TU Room And Class SMPN 1 Jenawi Karanganyar Damaged By Landslide Materials

KARANGANYAR - The administrative office (TU) and the classroom at SMP Negeri 1 Jenawi, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, were badly damaged by landslide material due to heavy rains that hit the area. Head of the Karanganyar Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Hendro Prayitno said the landslide incident occurred above the SMPN 1 building, Jenawi Karanganyar, on Monday at around 21.00 WIB. The cause of the landslide is thought to be due to the high intensity of rain that erodes the soil around the talud which causes landslides to hit two school buildings below it. "There were no casualties. However, as a result of the incident, the estimated loss reached Rp. 400 million to Rp. 500 million," he explained in Karanganyar as reported by Antara, Tuesday, February 2. The results of coordination with the damaged two-room school are administrative buildings (TU) and classes at SMPN 1. According to him, the landslide height is estimated to be about four meters long and six meters long. The landslide hit the TU room and one of the classes at the school. BPBD Karanganyar is currently still waiting for instructions from the school and the Karanganyar Regency Education Office to evacuate landslide materials. Meanwhile, the Head of Sub-district Jenawi Ardiansyah explained that the impact of the incident was that teaching and learning activities at SMP Negeri 1 Jenawi had to be temporarily closed. According to him, this is to ensure the safety of students of SMPN 1 Jenawi after the landslide incident. "Students are closed first, waiting for instructions from the relevant agencies," he said.

"We will monitor the situation and conditions at the school first. We don't know when teaching and learning activities will resume," he said.
