The Bogor Resort Police (Polres) Traffic Unit (Satlantas) recorded as many as 20 thousand vehicles leaving the Puncak area, Bogor Regency, West Java on D+1 Christmas Day 2023 or Tuesday 26 December.

"Temporary data that rose 20 thousand vehicles, for those who fell 20 thousand, the total number of vehicles passed to the peak area was around 40 thousand," said Head of the Bogor Police Traffic Unit AKP Rizky Guntama at the Gadog Police Post, Ciawi, Bogor on December 26, which was confiscated by Antara.

To unravel the density of vehicles on the connecting route to Bogor Regency-Cianjur Regency, the Bogor Resort Police has re-imposed traffic engineering in the form of a one-way system towards Jakarta from noon to evening.

"Right at 12.50 WIB we carried out traffic engineering, namely one way from the top to Jakarta," he explained.

According to him, on the last day of the Christmas holiday, the volume of vehicles entering the Puncak area was not as much as in the previous days, which amounted to 100 thousand vehicles.

"Today is the peak of the holiday backflow, where tomorrow is the return date for work, but we will anticipate it until the end of the year," he said.

Bogor Police Chief AKBP Rio Wahyu Anggoro explained that the Bogor Police would continue to implement an odd-even vehicle system ahead of the long holiday of the 2024 New Year celebration.

"27-29 (December 2023) there are still odd-even we use in order to regulate the number of vehicles that can go up to Puncak," explained Rio.

He emphasized that the security of the Puncak Line will remain in effect until New Year's Eve 2024. On December 31, 2023, from 18.00 WIB to January 1 at 01.00 WIB, the police will implement a car free night.

"So we urge people who want to take a vacation on New Year's Eve to enter the Puncak area early because on December 31 at 18.00 WIB to January 1, 2023 at 01.00 WIB we apply car free night," he explained.

The Bogor Resort Police involved 875 personnel to secure Christmas and New Year celebrations, especially in the Puncak area. The involvement of hundreds of police personnel is to anticipate traffic congestion at several points prone to congestion.

Rio revealed that in addition to relying on Traffic Unit personnel, his party also collaborated with cross-agency agencies such as the TNI, Bogor Regency Government, to community organizations and youth.
