Firli Bahuri Admits He Can't Complete His Duties As Chairman Of The KPK: I'm Sorry

JAKARTA - The chairman of the inactive Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri resigned from his position in the middle of a trial for alleged ethical violations. Firli apologized for not being able to complete the mandate that had been received since December 20, 2019.

"I apologize to all Indonesian people because I was unable to complete and could not complete the extension," Firli told reporters at the ACLC building, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Thursday, December 21.

Firli said the resignation letter had been submitted to the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno to be submitted by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on December 18. He hopes that this step will be approved

"I beg the President to accept our request, our request for a mandate," he said.

"And also on behalf of my family, I would like to express my gratitude for the support of the community during our service to the nation of state for 40 years," continued the retired Bhayangkara Corps.

As previously reported, Dewas will actually determine the fate of the alleged ethical violation of the inactive KPK chairman Firli Bahuri. They just need to examine the reporter and the reported party before giving the sentence to the retired Bhayangkara Corps.

"We will first compile the verdict (after all the examinations are completed, ed)," said member of the KPK Council Albertina Ho to reporters.

Albertina said that her party examined a number of witnesses to investigate the alleged ethical violations committed by Firli today. One of them is the boss of the nightclub, Alex Tirta.

The KPK Council finally tried Firli for the three violations he allegedly committed. The first is related to a meeting with former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo. The two ethical violations committed by Firli also relate to LHKPN that are not true, including debt.

Finally, an ethics trial will also be held regarding the rental of a house on Jalan Kertanegara Number 46. Firli is suspected of violating Article 4 Paragraph 2 letter a or Article 4 paragraph 1 letter j and Article 8 of the KPK Council Regulation (Perdewas) Number 3 of 2021.
