Prevent Corruption, Semarang Mayor Anticipates Corruption with KPK and Inspectorate

SEMARANG - Strengthening the government's commitment and public participation in eradicating corruption is the main focus of the Ruang Nalar (RN Talks) talk show entitled "Facts of Strong Government Commitment in Eradicating Corruption Cases in Indonesia" which was held on Friday, July 24, 2026 at the Aula Gedung Art Center, Diponegoro University, Semarang, Central Java.

This activity presents elements of local governments, academics, and students to discuss strengthening law enforcement, government transparency, digitization of public services, and the role of the community in building an anti-corruption culture.

The talk show was also attended by the Mayor of Semarang Dr. Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti, Head of the Semarang City Education Service, Dr. Muhammad Ahsan, Assistant to the Semarang City Regional Secretariat, Budi Prakosa, and Head of the Semarang City Ethnic and Political Unity Agency, Bambang Pramusinto.

The Mayor of Semarang, Dr. Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti, emphasized that corruption hinders human resource development and lowers the quality of public services. Therefore, its eradication requires a joint commitment through clean, transparent, and accountable governance.

"The Semarang City Government continues to strengthen corruption prevention through supervision, joint assistance with the KPK and the Inspectorate, and the digitization of public services to narrow the space for irregularities," said Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti, in a statement received, Friday.

On the same occasion, the Academic of the Faculty of Law at Diponegoro University, Dr. Gaza Carumna Iskadrenda, explained that eradicating corruption is based on three main pillars, namely strong regulations, effective law enforcement institutions, and a legal culture that upholds integrity.

According to him, consistency and synergy between the Police, Prosecutor's Office, KPK, and the community are important factors in enforcing the law fairly and without discrimination. Protection of the public who report corruption allegations also needs to continue to be strengthened.

Meanwhile, FISIP academician of Diponegoro University, Yoga Putra Prameswari, assessed that eradicating corruption requires political commitment, openness to information, and public oversight. The public can play a role by rejecting money politics and utilizing access to information to oversee government administration.

From the perspective of students, the Chairman of the Diponegoro University BEM, Nur Maajid Taufiqurrahman, emphasized the importance of legal reform, consistent enforcement of rules, and the involvement of the younger generation so that the culture of corruption is not passed on to the next generation.

In addition, the Deputy Director for Student Achievement and Business Development at Diponegoro University, Dr. Nuswantoro Dwiwarno, added that the enforcement of strict, fair, and consistent sanctions needs to be supported by collaboration between the government, law enforcement, academics, and the community.

Through the strengthening of cross-sectoral synergy, transparency, digitization of public services, and consistent law enforcement, efforts to eradicate corruption are expected to be more effective and able to strengthen public confidence in the government and law enforcement agencies.
