Firli Bahuri Resigns From The Position Of Chairman Of The KPK In The Middle Of The Trial Of Alleged Ethical Violations

JAKARTA - Firli Bahuri resigned from his position as Chairman of the KPK. He claimed to have written to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) through the Minister of State Secretary (Mensetneg) Pratikno. "I ended my duties as chairman of the KPK, and I declared that I would not want to extend my term of office," said Firli at the ACLC KPK Building, South Jakarta, Thursday, December 21. Firli said that his resignation was what made him meet with the Chairman of the KPK Council, Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean. However, he did not specify the conversation. He also deliberately appeared in the afternoon to respect the ethics trial process. “ Today so many witnesses gave statements. So I have to be patient,” said Firli. "I would like to thank Mr. President Mr. Joko Widodo and Mr. Vice President Mr. Ma'ruf Amin and all the nation's children wherever they are who have accompanied me," said Firli. Previously, the verdict for alleged ethical violations for the inactive Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri was immediately completed. The Supervisory Board (Dewas) only needs to examine the reporter, and the reported party before giving a sentence to the retired three-star general of the National Police. "“ We first compile the verdict (after all the examinations are completed, ed),” said member of the KPK Council Albertina Ho to reporters.

Albertina said that her party examined 12 witnesses to investigate the alleged ethical violations committed by Firli today. One of them is the boss of the night entertainment, Alex Tirta. Firli also confirmed that he was not present at this ethical trial even though his lawyer, Ian Iskandar, said that his client would go to the KPK Council. The same thing happened when he was absent from the investigation at Polda Metro Jaya.
