The Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI) of Banda Aceh City sent 43 banners filled with words of protest to the Banda Aceh City Government, following the dismissal of 37 nurses at the Meuraxa Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Banda Aceh. "We are carrying out this action as a form of protest against the dismissal of 37 nurses at Meuraxa Hospital by the director of Meuraxa Hospital," said PPNI Banda Aceh chairman Masli Yuzar in Banda Aceh, Antara, Monday, December 18. Dozens of standing banners and wreaths were installed along Jalan Abu Lam U, Baiturrahman District, from the front of the Banda Aceh DPRK office to Banda Aceh City Hall. Some of the flower boards read like'salam the achievements of the Mayor of Banda Aceh and the Acting Director of Meuraxa Hospital, thank you for our 37-sided layoffs, remember that there are all accountabilitys, Allah is the Most Knowing and the Most Seeing' and several other sentences. Masli explained that the dismissal of 37 nurses at Meuraxa Hospital by the Acting Director of Meuraxa Hospital, Dr. Riza Mulyadi SpAn, was based on evaluation. These nurses since early December 2023 have no longer worked at Meuraxa Hospital, after the Acting Director of Meuraxa Hospital issued the results of the evaluation at the end of November. "So we consider this evaluation unreasonable and not transparent. So this is the mechanism that we are questioning, because we have seen a lot of irregularities. Until today, the evaluation value has not been published, but people (weirs) have been issued," he said. Therefore, PPNI Banda Aceh demanded that the Acting Mayor of Banda Aceh Amiruddin cancel the unilateral dismissal of the health worker, and immediately call back 37 nurses at Meuraxa Hospital in Banda Aceh without any conditions. Meanwhile, Head of Protocol and Communication Section for the Head of the Banda Aceh Regional Secretariat, Aulia R Putra, said that his party still respects the freedom of expression rights of the city community in voicing anything, including the delivery of the protest board in front of the Banda Aceh City Hall. "We as the government respect the right to freedom of expression for every city resident. Please convey the input and ideas while still prioritizing comfort and order in the midst of society," said Aulia. According to Aulia, comfort and order in the midst of society are the main things that must be maintained by all parties. "If there is anything that wants to be conveyed to the government, they are welcome in good ways as well," he said. Regarding the dismissal of 37 health workers at the Meuraxa Hospital, he said, this was the result of an evaluation process by the hospital, ranging from administrative selection, written exams, practice, to interviews, which were carried out strictly. To note, he said, this year there are 539 non-civil servants in the B-type hospital who take part in the selection, consisting of services, nursing, support, and administration. "Of the 539 people, 88 of them, including health workers, did not pass the selection," he said. According to him, the evaluation is routinely carried out every year as a condition for the extension of the work agreement for non-civil servants.

"The goal is to improve the performance of hospitals as the backbone of health services to the community," he said.
