Quoting Al Alaq's Letter, Mahfud MD Reminds Him Not To Be Arrogant In Using Logical Sciences

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD reminded all parties not to be arrogant in using logic.

"Don't be arrogant with logic, don't be arrogant with logic. Because, above logic, there are still those who can show the truth, in addition to logical truth," said Mahfud MD when delivering a scientific oration at Padang State University, West Sumatra, Sunday, December 17, which was confiscated by Antara.

Mahfud said the meeting between the truth of logic and truth of the heart is usually a public common sense and that is the truth of the public. Therefore, no individual should be arrogant with knowledge, but must also prioritize noble behavior and side with the interests of the community.

In front of the graduates who attended, the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) quoted a verse, essentially mentioning science not only an intellectuality but also requires another intervention.

Mahfud said the letter Al Alaq, which was first sent down, reads: "Read with the name of your God who teaches people with calm". Kalam itself has the meaning of logic and methodology.

Still in the same letter, he said that God Almighty teaches humans things that have no knowledge but are in the heart, and are trusted with faith.

In his oration, Mahfud said in the 1945 Constitution specifically Article 31 states that science and technology are developed based on faith, piety and morals.

"So, the basic science of faith, piety and morals," he said.

Unfortunately, currently many parties prioritize science and technology only but ignore aspects of faith, piety and morals. As a result, the goal of humane education is not achieved.
