Prabowo And Ganjar's Camps Propose Change Of Debate Format, Anies: Any Way Can Convey Vision And Mission

JAKARTA - Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan admitted that there was no need for a change in the 2024 presidential election debate format as an evaluation for four debates before voting day.

This is different from the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN) camp and the Ganjar-Mahfud National Winning Team (TPN) which evaluated the debate format with a slight change in concept.

TKN Prabowo-Gibran wants the debate to be packaged with the town hall method, while TPN Ganjar-Mahfud proposes that there is a podium on the debate stage.

However, according to Anies, however, the format of debate, presidential and vice-presidential candidates can actually use it to collide with ideas.

"Actually, any format, any way, we can convey ideas, convey vision and mission. In any way, we must be able to adjust," said Anies in Morowali, Central Sulawesi, Saturday, December 16.

Anies also admitted that there was no problem with the time limit for each session by each presidential and vice presidential candidate. In the first presidential candidate debate on December 12, the KPU determined the time for submitting the vision and mission of each candidate for 4 minutes, answering a 2-minute panelist question, responding and asking other candidates 1 minute, and answering questions from other candidates 2 minutes.

"I often appear in global forums, only 2 minutes to talk. In front of the UN Secretary General I have to talk for 2 minutes. It can't be more, and it's common. When talking at the global level 2 minutes, 3 minutes, that's where the art is, how to convey ideas in any atmosphere, any setting," explained Anies.

Moreover, the former Governor of DKI Jakarta views that every presidential and vice presidential candidate must be able to adjust the material until the deadline for arguing after all the format.

"I was given a question that I didn't expect to ask and I had to answer. What is the answer that arises? The answer that arises is what is already in the mind. So this is actually an opportunity to be authentic," said Anies.

"Just be authentic, as it is. You don't have to do a lot of cosmetics, okay," he added.

Previously, Deputy Commander of Fanta TKN Prabowo-Gibran Rahayu Saraswati Djojohadikusumo Sara was of the view that the previously carried out debate format presented directly the three presidential candidates to argue with each other was not optimal in exploring the idea of each candidate.

Sara also suggested that the debate format be packaged with the town hall meeting method which is carried out by presenting representatives such as experts to ask questions and explore the ideas and vision and missions of each candidate.

"More to the town hall meeting which is indeed formal without limiting the time for candidate pairs to speak," he said.

Meanwhile, Secretary of the National Winning Team (TPN) Ganjar-Mahfud, Hasto Kristiyanto, proposed adding a podium on the debate stage.

"The format [debate] is very good, it's just that this is a presidential debate so it should also be equipped with a podium so that it looks like it displays authority," said Hasto.
