JAKARTA - 98 activist Ray Rangkuti assessed that the three pairs of candidates (paslon) for the president and vice president did not optimize the 2024 presidential election campaign and debate period.

"In the 2024 (Pilpres), voters are not invited to argue about the contents of their heads, but to argue over the style, how, how to dance. It's a shame," Ray said in a discussion entitled 'Election and Democracy Illusion: The Voice of the Inter-Agency Activists Exponent' at the PARA Syndicate Office, South Jakarta, Friday, December 15, was confiscated by Antara.

According to Ray, in the campaign, the presidential and vice presidential candidate must issue the best ideas to convey to the people as voters.

The idea in question includes important agendas for the next five years if one of the candidate pairs is elected as president and vice president.

"What is called the campaign, you (candidates) put out what the ideas are like, what to think about in the future, what you offer the people for five years," Ray said.

In addition, he also appealed to presidential and vice-presidential candidates to take advantage of the debate forums initiated by the public, even though there is an official debate forum from the General Elections Commission (KPU).

"Throughout the history of our election, people are happy to facilitate the creation of debates. Unfortunately, the debate forum is not optimized," said Ray Rangkuti.

To note, the KPU has held the first debate for the 2024 presidential candidate in Jakarta, Tuesday, December 12.

The KPU has appointed three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates as participants in the 2024 presidential election, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar with serial number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud number 3.

The campaign period has also been scheduled from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, then the voting schedule will be on February 14, 2024.
