There Is A Decline In TB Cases In Indonesia, Friendship Hospital Launches TB Early Detection PCR Equipment

JAKARTA - The number of tuberculosis or tuberculosis or TB has begun to show a decline in cases in Indonesia, after previously increasing in 2022. In 2022, the number of TB cases reached 724,309, then there was a decrease in 2023 to 661.310 cases.

Despite the decline in cases, RSUP Persahabatan carried out various early detection efforts to the community. One of them is by making TB M-Gene detection PCR devices.

"This tool is the result of research and innovation at the Friendship Hospital with a number of parties. M-Gene TB PCR kits can be used to utilize all open system Real-Time PCR machines spread throughout Indonesia," said the President Director of Friendship Hospital, Dr Agus Dwisusanto to reporters, Thursday, December 14.

The PCR tool amounts to around 2 thousand units. The work on M-Gene TB PCR kits is easier and faster than the Covid-19 PCR work.

Some of the proceeds from the sale of M-Gene TB PCR kits are used for research funds at the Friendship Hospital, in order to strengthen an impactive and sustainable research ecosystem.

"Currently, the diagnosis for TB or TB based on PCR can be produced in Indonesia, one of which is a collaboration of Friendship Hospitals," he said.

This M-Gene TB PCR kit has a simple component created by a laboratory that has worked on PCR to diagnose Covid-19.
