3 Months Fugitive, Ustaz Cabuli 5 Santri In Tangerang Arrested In Karawang

TANGERANG - The police finally arrested an Ustaz with the initials NF who allegedly molested 5 underage students. NF was arrested after running away for 3 months.

NF is known as a religious teacher at one of the Islamic boarding schools (Ponpes) in the Balaraja area, Tangerang Regency.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit (Reskrim) Tangerang City Police, Kompol Arief N Yusuf said the NF perpetrator was arrested in Karawang, West Java, Monday, December 11.

"It's true, it was secured by officers at his hiding place in Karawang," said Arief when confirmed, Wednesday, December 13.

Currently, continued Arif, NF is still being investigated. According to NF's confession, he only committed acts of obscenity against one student. In fact, information states that there are 5 students who are victims of NF. This is based on reports from the victim's parents.

"The suspect admitted that he had only 1 child victim," he explained.

The police plan to summon several witnesses and psychologist experts to match NF's statement.

"Investigators will continue to dig up information from the suspect again. Coupled with the examination of psychologists to find out other modes of the perpetrator," he said.

For his actions, NF was named a suspect and charged with Article 82 of Law number 17 of 2016 and or Article 289 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 15 years in prison.

"The maximum penalty is 15 years in prison, plus 1/3 of the threatening period," he concluded.
