KPK Hopes Anyone Elected In The 2024 Presidential Election Immediately Approves The Asset Confiscation Law

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has asked the pairs of candidates elected in the 2024 presidential election to be pros and eradicating corruption. They were even reminded to immediately ratify the Asset Confiscation Bill (RUU).

"In the future, whoever is elected, we hope that from the KPK, the Asset Confiscation Law will soon be ratified as a result of a criminal act, one of which is corruption," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, December 13.

Ali said this law was needed to facilitate the law enforcement process and provide a deterrent effect. This is because the punishments that will be imposed on corruptors are not only corporal punishment but also to impoverish them.

This is also consistent with what the anti-corruption commission has done so far. This is because the KPK always applies money laundering (TPPU).

"It becomes much more effective according to our assessment. I think the public agrees," he said.

As previously reported, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has often asked for the Asset Confiscation Bill to be ratified immediately. Most recently, he again asked for the law to be ratified immediately when speaking at the commemoration of World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) 2023 held by the KPK.

Meanwhile, Commission III of the DPR RI some time ago stated that it was ready to discuss the Asset Confiscation Bill if assigned by the leadership of the DPR RI. Discussions can be made through special committees and working committees.
