Chairman of the 1982 Betawi Tribe Deliberative Body (Bamus) Zainuddin or Oding admitted that his party proposed to the DPR that the Governor and Deputy Governor of Jakarta be appointed by the President.

This rule is included in the Draft Law (RUU) of the Special Region of Jakarta (DKJ). Oding said that his proposal was disclosed during the Bamus Betawi hearing at the DPR RI building last November.

"Regarding the composition of the government, we propose that the Governor and Deputy Governor be appointed by the President. Political costs will be smaller, then the impact of security can also be eliminated," Oding told reporters, Friday, December 8.

However, Oding emphasized to the DPR to give privileges to local sons to be elected by the President as Governor-Deputy Governor of Jakarta after the IKN transfer.

According to Oding, it is time for regional heads in Jakarta, when they become special areas after they are no longer the capital, they are represented by Betawi men.

"If the Governor is still elected through the regional elections, where are his particularities? As local sons, we ask for political civiles. Already, appointed by the President. Other people please talk, have their own rights. But please respect, Jakarta has 28 percent of regional sons," he explained.

The Draft Law on the Province of the Special Region of Jakarta (RUU DKJ) was officially approved as a proposal for the initiative of the DPR RI. One of the rules, namely Article 10, states that the Governor and Deputy Governor of DKJ are appointed, appointed, and dismissed by the President by taking into account the DPRD's proposal or opinion.

The decision was made in the 10th Plenary Meeting of the DPR RI Session Period II of the 2023-2024 Session Year at the Parliament Building, Senayan. The draft preparation of the DKJ Bill was previously discussed at the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR RI.

Deputy Chairman of the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR RI Achmad Baidowi alias Awiek clarified that the DKJ Governor-Deputy Governors were elected by the President of the Republic of Indonesia to emphasize the particularity of Jakarta after its status was no longer the nation's capital.
