Political Year, Gratification Case Involving Bekasi DPRD Leaders Temporarily Stopped

BEKASI - The Bekasi District Attorney's Office has temporarily suspended the investigation process of the alleged gratification case which is directly related to the alleged recipient of bribes, namely the head of the local DPRD.

"This is a political year, don't let it seem criminalized, but it's still a process, wait for it later," said Bekasi District Attorney Dwi Astuti Beniyati, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 7.

He said the suspension in question did not stop the investigation process that had been running so far, only legal remedies were directly related to the reported parties, who in fact registered as election participants were declared temporarily postponed.

The decision to postpone the temporary is in line with the instructions of the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia as an effort to prevent potential criminalization related to election participants as well as a form of support for safe, peaceful, and conducive general elections.

"It doesn't stop, right now there are still a series of examinations," he said.

The construction of this case began with the alleged receipt of two luxury cars branded Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and a BMW sedan by the Deputy Chairperson of the Bekasi Regency DPRD from the PDI Perjuangan from one of the businessmen with the initials RS who was suspected of being related to the aspiration project.

The Bekasi District Attorney's Office on Tuesday, December 31 or a few days before the determination of the 2024 General Election Fixed Candidates List (DCT) has named the hospital as a suspect in the alleged corruption case in the alleged bribery case.

The determination of the suspect is based on the results of the examination and exposure of investigators from their original status as witnesses. The hospital was detained at the Class IIA Cikarang Prison for the next 20 days with an additional 40 days of detention to complete the investigation file and the indictment plan.

The investigation of this case involved 20 witnesses and two experts consisting of criminal experts and experts from Peruri. Investigators also examined other DPRD personnel including the reported attorney on suspicion of helping to hide the whereabouts of the reported party to efforts to obstruct investigation.

A total of 184 pieces of evidence ranging from letter documents and a number of information have also been collected, including evidence of one Pajero unit along with BPKB, although there is still one more object of gratification in this case, namely a BMW car that has not been found.

"For the hospital, we'll see later because the condition is four months pregnant. Inside, we also know the condition will be based on the examination. Now it's still being examined. Yesterday, prisoners are now in detention for another 40 days," said Dwi Astuti.
