Bawaslu Reviews Video Joget PAN Cadres At The Ministry Of Trade

JAKARTA - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) is reviewing a dance video allegedly carried out by a cadre of the National Mandate Party (PAN) at the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) office.

"The report is not yet available, but it has become our concern. We are currently reviewing it," said Bawaslu Chairman Rahmat Bagja as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 7.

According to him, participants of the 2024 General Election should not use government offices for political activities because it has been regulated in Law number 17 of 2017 concerning General Elections (Pemilu).

There should be no abuse of government offices for political facilities for certain election participants. There are rules in the Election Law, read again," he said.

Therefore, he appealed to the 2024 General Election participants to continue to coordinate with Bawaslu so as not to violate the rules.

"That's why we are coordinating the current election participants, don't let them not know the rules. We have opened the door for the doand don't in the campaign," he said.

According to him, election participants are not allowed to use the Court office to the sub-district hall and village hall. But on the other hand, according to Bagja, there are exceptions for the use of government office halls in certain areas.

"Can the Court office be allowed? It can't be clear. The sub-district hall? The debate will be there. If the sub-districts are the outermost, outermost, village halls, community gathering places are allowed or not? Now it depends on local conditions. Baawaslu explained whether or not government facilities could be used for political interests by election participants.

"What are the government facilities in DKI? GBK (Gelora Bung Karno) government facilities, but may they not be used? Yes, but the governor's office may not be used? The governor's office is not allowed, if GBK is welcome," he said.

Previously, on social media X, the @archiaja account uploaded a 15-second video featuring seven PAN cadres dancing in a room with the background of the words Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia.

The KPU has set a campaign period scheduled from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, while the voting schedule is on February 14, 2024.
