PAPUA - Intan Jaya Police are handling the caravan Daby Air PK-DPP plane crash at Pogapa Airport, Homeyo District, Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua. Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, said the plane flew from Nabire at around 09.55 WIT to Homeyo District by transporting five passengers and a number of basic necessities. The plane piloted by Captain Irela and Co-pilot Hendri had an accident when it arrived at the Pogapa Airport parking area. "The plane slipped because of the slippery condition of the runway, causing it to hit a hill at the end of the airport," said Benny, confirmed in Jayapura, Antara, Thursday, December 7. There were no fatalities in the incident, but three people were injured, including the pilot. "Currently, the injured victims are being treated by the medical team and are waiting to be evacuated to Nabire," he said. Benny added that until now the Caravan Daby Air plane is still at Pogapa Airport and members of the TNI and Polri have secured the plane for an in-depth investigation regarding the cause of the accident. Intan Jaya Police Chief AKBP Afrizal Asri when contacted separately added that as a result of the incident, the plane suffered damage to several parts such as the propeller and broken front wheels. "The police are investigating this case in coordination with the airline and airport to find out the factors that contributed to the accident," he said. In addition, the police are also taking preventive steps to avoid similar incidents in the future.

"This incident is a serious concern for the relevant authorities to ensure flight safety in the region," he said.
