Two Residential Settlement Points In Pondok Rangon Often Flood As High As 100 Cm, East Jakarta City Government Builds Jacking Channels

JAKARTA - Residents' houses in RT 02/06 and RT 02/03, Swadaya Street, Pondok Ranggon Village, Cipayung District, East Jakarta, are often flooded as high as 100 cm. Usually, the floodwater will recede for 3 hours.

In overcoming the problem of flooding in the area, the East Jakarta City Government built a water channel for the jacking method.

Currently, the construction has reached 98 percent. Development now only leaves the construction of channels on the side of Jalan Swadaya.

East Jakarta Mayor, M. Anwar said the construction of a 130-meter-long jacking method channel with a depth of 7 meters had been completed. Jacking channels in RT 1 and RT 2 can overcome inundation in the area.

"I coordinated with Mr. RW 06 Pondok Ranggon Village, no more inundation occurred. RT 1 and RT 2 are in RW 06," said M. Anwar to reporters, Wednesday, December 6.

Anwar added that the jacking channel had been completed but only the carrying channel was still in the work process.

"Hopefully the construction of a jacking channel can be useful for residents so that there will be no puddles again at that location," he said.

Anwar asked that the construction must be monitored so that the canals on the side of the road are also quickly completed.

"Do not let the jacking channel be completed but the road side channel has not been completed, and from the SDA in less than a week has been completed," he said.

The construction of a jacking on Swadaya Street has reached 98 percent and roads that have been closed for three months have been reopened.

Meanwhile, the channel on the side of the road that has not been completed has reached a length of 100 meters. The construction will use Uditch 40. Later this channel will accommodate water before falling into the jacking channel.

The head of RW 03, Asyim, admitted that there was a jacking method channel, his area no longer experienced inundation.

"Alhamdulillah, after the construction of the canal with the method of jacking every time it rains, our residents will no longer experience flooding. Usually, floods inundate residential areas up to 100 cm," he said.
