BANDUNG - The General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) reminded all parties, especially the 2024 election contestants, not to use the free-vehicle (car free day/CFD) as a space for political activities.

Bawaslu chairman Rahmat Bagja said that the non-use of CFD as a space for organizing political activities is contained in the instructions of all regional heads in Indonesia, and has even become a mutual agreement with political parties and election contestants.

"We remind CFD not to be used as a political activity. That is our agreement as well as each (party involved in the election), and it has been stated in the instructions of regional heads," said Bagja in Bandung as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 5.

Bagja revealed that the experience in the 2019 Election was one of the reasons the campaign when CFD was not allowed.

"Later it will happen again. Remember 2019, what we were forced to do, that's what we avoided. Therefore, we urge both presidential and vice presidential candidates, not to make CFD a campaign opportunity," he said.

Regarding one of the vice presidential candidates (cawapres) who distributed milk to the public during the CFD in Jakarta, Bagjamastikan, the ranks of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Bawaslu processed the alleged violation of the campaign.

"I think all presidential and vice-presidential candidates please campaign because now is the campaign period. However, CFD should not be used for political activities. We remind you," he said.

If the public sees and finds such as the establishment of a booth, imposition of attributes and all elements of campaign, Bagjamem invites the public to report to Bawaslu.

"We will definitely coordinate and supervise with regional Bawaslu friends. Let CFD be an activity (of sports), not as a campaign, socialization also cannot, because it cannot be used for political activities," explained Bagja.
