Emphasizing Atrocities In Gaza Must Be Prevented, President Erdogan: Israel's Crimes Cannot Be Allowed

JAAKRTA - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo miran on Tuesday said crimes committed by Israel in Gaza should not be left alone.

"Israel's war crimes, crimes against humanity in Gaza should not be left alone," President Erdogan said at a summit of the 44th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Qatar's capital, Doha.

"Our priority is to immediately declare a long-term ceasefire and supply of humanitarian aid flows," he continued.

President Erdoungan stressed that atrocities in Gaza must be prevented from turning into regional wars that also involve Syria.

He also said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government "dangered the security and future of the entire region in order to prolong his political life."

As previously reported, the death toll of Palestinians as a result of Israel's massive military campaign in the Gaza Strip has soared to 15,899 people, the Ministry of Health said in the blockaded enclave, quoted by Anadolu.

"More than 42,000 other people were injured in the attack," ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said at a news conference.

He also said about "70 percent of victims of Israeli aggression in Gaza are women and children."

"(The occupation forces destroyed 56 health centers (in Gaza) and arrested 35 medical staff," added al-Qudra.

On the same occasion, he also asked the United Nations and the World Health Organization (WHO) to pressure the Israeli government to release medical staff from prison.

"We call for protection against hospitals, medical staff and humanity and to secure a safe corridor that allows entry of medical and fuel supplies, as well as for the removal of injured people (outside Gaza for medical treatment)," said al-Qudra.
