Customs And Excise Destroys Confiscated Goods Of IDR 20.5 Billion In Dumai

Dumai Intermediate Customs and Excise together with the Regional Offices BC Riau and Pekanbaru, Tuesday, destroyed confiscated goods from prosecution in the form of cigarettes, alcoholic beverages, sex aids, shoes and mobile phones worth Rp20.5 billion.

Head of the Dumai Customs Office, Gerald Prawira Hasoloan, said the impact of the circulation and entry of goods in a number of water areas and port terminals for passengers and airports throughout 2022 to November 2023 resulted in the state experiencing a loss of around Rp. 16.3 billion.

"Before being destroyed, it has been designated as state property that has violated the provisions of Law Number 17 of 2006 concerning Customs and Law Number 39 of 2007 concerning Excise," said Gerald on the sidelines of the extermination event at the Dumai BC Office yard as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 5.

He explained that the destruction this time consisted of 60 evidence of prosecution (SBP) by the Riau Regional Office, Pekanbaru BC as many as 193 SBP and four BAs of postal goods, and Dumai Customs as many as 55 SBP.

The items are also the result of prosecutions carried out by Customs and Excise together with the TNI, Polri, Attorney General's Office and other relevant legal officials.

Evidence of the results of the prosecution that was destroyed included cigarettes of various types and brands of 14.2 million cigarettes worth Rp. 16.5 billion with state losses of Rp. 10.7 billion, alcoholic beverages of various types and brands of 2,196.6 liters worth Rp. 2.6 billion to the loss of state finances of Rp. 5.2 billion.

Furthermore, 241 units of the Apple brand Iphone mobile phone with a value of around Rp. 1.1 billion and resulted in state losses of Rp. 285 million. Other confiscated goods are 340 used shoe bags and 16 sacks of used clothing with a total value of Rp. 179 million, and 350 bags of salt worth Rp. 70 million.

There are also seven sex aids worth IDR 1.5 million and state losses of IDR 323 thousand, as well as various other types and sizes with a total value of IDR 57 million and a state loss of around IDR 5 million.

"The destruction exists by being run over by heavy equipment, dissolved in a container filled with water and also burned. We hope that there will be a deterrent effect so that other actors think long. People are also advised to comply with customs and excise regulations," said Gerald.
