The General Election Commission (KPU) will still discuss the debate sequence for presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) with a winning team from each pair of candidates.

KPU member Idham Holik said his party would still hold a coordination meeting with each campaign team from three pairs of candidates to discuss this matter.

"The debate portion will soon be stated in the decision document," said Idham as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 4.

He said that the KPU could not yet determine because it had to hold a coordination meeting first with the team from the candidate pair.

According to him, the meeting will be held in the near future to discuss in detail the sequence of debates for presidential and vice presidential candidates held five times.

Idham also explained that the KPU has not yet determined the theme to be used for each presidential and vice presidential candidate debate.

Previously, in a coordination meeting on Wednesday (29/11), the KPU had set a theme for the presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate participating in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) which will take place five times.

The first debate was held at the KPU Office on December 12, 2023 with the theme law, Human Rights (HAM), government, eradication of corruption, and strengthening democracy.

Then in the second debate scheduled to take place on December 22, 2023, it carries the theme of defense, security, geopolitical, and international relations.

The theme of the third debate on January 7, 2024 is economic (congestion and digital), social welfare, investment, trade, taxes (digital), finance, state budget management.

Furthermore, the theme of the fourth debate on January 21, 2024, includes energy, natural resources (SDA), SMN, carbon taxes, the environment and agrarianism, as well as indigenous peoples.

Finally, on February 4, 2024, the theme of the debate was information technology, improving public services, hoaxes, intolerance, education, health (post-COVIDESociety), and employment.

The theme of the debate refers to the national vision listed in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and the National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN).

Each presidential/vice presidential debate will consist of six segments, ranging from the opening, reading of rules, conveying vision, mission, and work programs, to the closing segment.
