Christmas Safari During Campaign Period, Anies Removes Traces Of Tolerance In The 2017 DKI Regional Head Election

JAKARTA - Candidate pairs for president and vice president number 1, Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) will conduct Anies-Muhaimin (AMIN) Christmas Safari in various regions during the 2017 presidential election campaign period. This AMIN Christmas safari can be called Anies' move to erase the shadow of intolerance inherent in him since the 2017 DKI Pilkada.

Traces of sentiment of Anies' intolerance were felt when he was supported by one of the Islamic organizations which is now prohibited by the government, namely the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), during the 2017 Pilkada.Cappin The Anies-Muhaimin National Winning Team (Timnas AMIN) did not deny the existence of traces of intolerance that had been attached to Anies. Therefore, the AMIN National Team wanted to prove that intolerance no longer existed in the presidential-cawapres pair. On the one hand, Syaugi said that during his tenure as Governor of DKI Jakarta for the 2017-2022 period often issued policies that met the tolerance aspect of religious people, ranging from providing assistance to house of worship to the issuance of permits to building in religious places. "In fact, it has been conveyed, Mr. Anies has already proven that this problem of tolerance is not only a matter of religion, trying, all given justice, education, given justice, and equality," explained Syaugi. So, Syaugi emphasized that Christmas celebration activities with his presidential-candidate pairs during his 2024 presidential election campaign were not carried out in the church, but rather a hall or open room. Recalling, Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Election clearly prohibits the activities of political campaigns in places of worship. "Indeededly, the rules are not allowed. It is possible that in the course of the safari, he-belau will tell what good things have been done by this Mr. anies, it can be door to door. So, it doesn't have to be in place of worship, it should not be there. It's just to celebrate it," said Syaugi. Continuing, Chairperson of the AmIN Christmas Safari, Shephard Supit emphasized that Anies-Cak Imin will not carry out campaign activities with an invitation to choose clearly, but only to celebrate religious big days together.

The locations where Christmas Safari is held include Jabodetabek, Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara, Manado, Yogyakarta, and Central Java. "At the AMIN Christmas Safari, we are not campaigning orally, directly open. The point is that we celebrate Christmas here, with us presenting Pak Anies and Muhaimin, or representatives of the national team if they are not present. So indeed we are not campaigning in places of worship, but we celebrate Christmas," said Shephard.
