Kaesang Asks For Support From PGPI-PGLII East Java

SURABAYA - Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) DPP Kaesang Pangarep asked the priests in East Java to support his party in the 2024 Legislative Election (Pileg).

Kaesang held a dialogue with priests who are members of the Association of Indonesian Economy Churches (PGPI) and the Association of Indonesian Evangelical Churches and Institutions (PGLII) East Java in the City of Surabaya, East Java, Saturday.

"I ask for prayers and blessings from the priests so that PSI enters parliament (DPR RI)," said Kaesang as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, December 2.

According to him, PSI is a small party, so it needs support from all parties, including religious leaders.

Kaesang emphasized that he was not like his older brother, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who nominated himself as a vice presidential candidate to accompany presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto.

According to Kaesang, during his visit to areas, many thought he was Gibran.

"I am not a vice presidential candidate. For the priests, please pray for PSI to win in the election. If the vice presidential candidate, pray for Mas Gibran, not me. I invite the priests to come to the polling station to vote for PSI," said the youngest son of President Joko Widodo.

Meanwhile, PSI Raja Juli DPP Secretary General Antoni added that his arrival with Kaesangke East Java was to carry out blusukan during the 2024 election campaign.

"Starting today until Thursday (6/12), we are blusukan and in touch with the people of East Java. We will visit 11 regencies and cities in East Java," said Juli in Surabaya, Saturday.

The eleven regencies and cities include Lamongan, Tuban, Magetan, Banyuwangi, Malang, Jember, Pasuruan, and Surabaya.

July hopes that the blusukan activity can reap sympathy from the people of East Java for PSI in the legislative election and to win the presidential and vice presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka pair in the presidential election.
