Lawyer Firli Bahuri: SYL Communications With People Claiming To Be KPK Chair

JAKARTA - Firli Bahuri's lawyer, Ian Iskandar, claims that his client has never communicated with Syahrul Yasin Limpo through a short message application. In fact, the former Minister of Agriculture is said to have communicated with someone claiming to be the Chair of the KPK.

The statement was conveyed to refute the evidence of a screenshot of the conversation between Firli Bahuri and Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

"There is a very strong trend of facts, namely Pak SYL's conversation which claims to be the person who claims to be Firli Bahuri," Ian told reporters, Friday, December 1.

Not only that, Ian also said that Syahrul Yasin Limpo had admitted that he communicated with someone who only claimed to be Firli Bahuri.

This is because the number on the short message application that communicates with SYL is different from Firli Bahuri.

"So it was admitted by Mr. SYL that the profile picture was the same as Mr. Firli's cellphone number. But it turned out that it was not Mr. Firli. It was admitted by Mr. SYL himself. The number is different that Mr. Firli has been using," said Ian.

In the case of alleged extortion and acceptance of gratuities, Firli Bahuri was named a suspect based on the results of the case title conducted on Wednesday, November 22.

Several pieces of evidence that became the basis for determining the suspect, namely, foreign exchange documents worth Rp7.4 billion. Then, there were also the results of the extraction of 21 cellphones.

Firli was charged with Article 12e, 12B or Article 11 of Law number 31 of 1999 concerning the eradication of corruption in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code. Thus, it is threatened with life imprisonment.
