South Sulawesi DPRD Calls PLN Sulselrabar Directors Regarding Rotating Extinguishing

The leadership of the South Sulawesi Provincial DPRD summoned the directors of PT PLN for the South, Southeast and West Sulawesi Region (Sulselrabar) to provide an explanation regarding the reasons for the rotating blackout that has occurred in their working areas over the past few months.

"We are calling to provide an explanation regarding the turnover," said Deputy Chairman of the South Sulawesi DPRD Darmawangsyah Muin during a Hearing Meeting with Ombusdman, YLKI and ESDM as reported by ANTARA, Friday, December 1.

Darmawansyah said from the explanation of the PLN directors, the rotating blackout was carried out due to the impact of El Nino. Where PLN from the start predicted that they could handle the impact of El Nino for this year, but it turns out that the prediction missed a bit, that's the impact of El Nino. long.

The impact of El Nino, he said, was that several dams and water sources had dried up and could not move the turbine so that it was beyond predictions. However, now PLN already has a solution by preparing an injection of power generation machines.

He said, in December it was already operational, because there were additional incoming machines and accelerated handling steps, such as adding power plants at Tello Lama, Suppa and others that might add 130 Mega Watts (MW).

"However, we at the DPRD have emphasized that the addition of 130 MW is not enough if El Nino happens again next year," said the man who is familiarly called Wawan.

Therefore, his party encourages for this year and next year immediately increases supply capacity, not only 1,800 MW But if possible at 2,000 MW, so that if there is an impact of El Nino then supply decreases, it can still serve 3.7 million customers and there will be no more rotating blackouts.

"So, basically we have a meeting to encourage PLN to immediately resolve it. So please be patient. The point is that this rotating blackout will end soon. We did not provide details regarding compensation (circular procurement), but if I'm not mistaken, it was said that Rp. 39 billion according to the use of each household," he said.

Ketua Komisi D DPRD Sulsel Andi Rachmatika Dewi menyampaikan hasil rapat tersebut dan meminta PLN Sulselrabar lebih aktif memberikan informasi dan edukasi kepada masyarakat agar lebih masif dalam hal ini menggunakan semua media yang ada terkait jadwal pemadaman bergilir.

"Ask PLN Sulselrabar to provide compensation in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources number 13 of 2021. Ask PLN Sulselrabar and the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources to check the revision of the RUPTL (Electricity Supply Business Plan) for additional construction of power plants in South Sulawesi," said Rachmatika.

General Manager of PLN Main Distribution Unit Sulselrabar Moch Andy Adhaminordin after the meeting responded to journalists' questions arguing that the blackout was rotating due to a lack of electricity supply.

"If the blackout occurs because of the need, it is more than our strength. So demand is greater than supply capacity," he said.

Why is the supply capacity reduced, he said, because there are large corrupt players managed by PLN, both owned by PLN itself and additional Mobile Power Plant (MPP) new generators that cannot be maximized.
