Judge Sentenced To Therapists Of Rapists Of Australian Citizens In Bali 5 Years In Prison

DENPASAR - Denpasar District Court Judge, Bali, sentenced the defendant Zamzami Aulani Malik (26), a therapist, to 5 years in prison for being proven to have raped a woman a foreign national from Australia.

Panel of Judges Ni Made Okti Mandiani in her ruling stated that the defendant, who works as a spa therapist in Legian, Kuta, Badung, was sentenced to prison because he was legally and convincingly proven to have committed the crime of molestation against a minor with the initials SRC (16) from Australia.

"The trial, sentenced the defendant Zamzami Aulani Malik to 5 years in prison, reduced while the defendant was in temporary detention and with the order of the defendant to remain detained," said the judge as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, November 30.

In addition, the panel of judges stated that the defendant had been legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing violence or threats of violence, forcing, committing deception, committing a series of lies, or persuading children to commit or allow obscene acts.

The defendant's actions violated Article 82 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 76 E of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law No. 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection.

This is according to the first indictment of the Public Prosecutor.

The judge also sentenced the defendant to a fine of Rp. 100 million, subsidiary to three months in prison.

On the judge's decision, the defendant, accompanied by Ida Bagus Dwi Ganda Sabo as the legal adviser, stated that he immediately accepted the decision.

The Public Prosecutor (JPU) stated that he was ready to accept the demands even though the decision of the panel of judges was lighter than the prosecutor's demands.

Previously, the Public Prosecutor filed a sentence of 7 years in prison to the defendant. However, the judge had other considerations against the defendant so that it was different from the prosecutor's demands.

The defendant was desperate to rape the victim who at that time was with his family who came to Bali for a vacation. The victim who at that time came to Spa's place to do a number of treatment.

The victim chose a treatment which lasted an hour with details of 40 minutes of the prone position and 20 minutes of the supine position.

At that time, the perpetrator carried out his action by committing acts of sexual abuse against the victim who was then separated from his family. After being reported, the family also reported this to the Denpasar City Police for follow-up.
