Profile Of Choirul Anam, Former Commissioner Of Komnas HAM Who Participated In Winning Ganjar

YOGYAKARTA Profile of Choirul Anam was widely discussed after he joined the Ganjar-Mahfud MD National Winning Team (TPN). Choirul Anam himself is better known as a former Commissioner of Komnas HAM.

Quoted from the Komnasham website, Mohammad Choirul Anam is an alumni of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Brawijaya. Before becoming part of Komnas HAM, Choirul Anam, who is now joining the TPN Ganjar Mahfud, was quite active in student organizations.

Before becoming a professional, Choirul Anam was indeed focused on the world of law and human rights. His career started really from below, starting from being a vocalist of the Surabaya Legal Aid Institute (LBH) at the Malang post, East Java.

After that he became Director of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI). When he was a director, Choirul Anam was fairly young, namely 24 years old. This made him the youngest director in the history of YLBHI.

After that Anam became the Commissioner of Komnas HAM with the 2017-2022 term of office. While at Komnas HAM, Anam was highlighted several times, one of which was in the case of the death of Brigadier Yosua Hutabarat involving General Ferdy Sambo.

The meeting took place at Ferdy Sambo's official residence, which is known to be the TKP for the death of Brigadier Yosua. This information was even asked by the DPR Law Commission in a meeting held at the Senayan parliament complex, Jakarta on Monday, August 22, 2022.

In his explanation, Choirul Anam admitted that there was a meeting but he did not get much information regarding the case involving Sambo.

In addition, Choirul Anam also looked for facts in the tragedy of Kanjuruhan Malang. When he was Commissioner of Komnas HAM, Choirul Anam joined in looking for facts about the incident and got an exclusive video recording of the Southern Tribune. The recording then became important evidence because it contained a recording of the seconds of the 13th door incident.

Currently Choirul Anam's name is included in the Ganjar-Mahfud National Winning Team (TPN) in the 2024 presidential election. At the TPN, he is placed in the director position, under Laksdya TNI (ret) Suyono Thamrin who is the Executive Director of Laksdya.

Choirul Anam also revealed the reason why he wanted to join TPN Ganjar, first because he claimed to know the figures of Ganjar and Mahfud. According to him, Mahfud is a brave figure, while Ganjar has the ability to communicate. Both are considered to have their own advantages to support democracy, law and human rights in Indonesia for the better.

Anam also admitted that he knew Mahfud personally. He assessed that Mahfud MD's work could be recognized as good, especially those related to law enforcement.

Apart from being related to the figures of Ganjar and Mahfud, Anam considered that the vision and mission carried out by both reflected the interests of the community, especially those related to accessibility.

"One of the most important, especially in the context of human rights, brings closer accessibility, access to the Indonesian people, the Indonesian people to enjoy their social and cultural economic rights," said Anam.

At TPN, Anam explained that as Director of the TPN Campaign Juru he would convey the vision and mission of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates, especially related to human rights.
