CNG Gas Cylinder Carried By Truck In Sukabumi Explodes, One Person Dies-9 Terlka

SUKABUMI - A compressed natural gas cylinder (CNG) carrying a truck suddenly exploded on Lodaya Street, Sukabumi Regency, West Java. Nine people were injured and one others died on the spot.

"The number of victims due to the explosion of CNG tubes for processing tea is because at the time of the incident Jalan Lodaya in Karangtengah Village, Cibadak District was crowded with vehicles and factory employees who had just disbanded," said Cibadak Police Chief Kompol Ridwan Ishak as reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 27.

information gathered from the police, the explosion of two CNG tubes transported by this truck occurred at around 17.35 WIB.

Prior to the incident, the CNG tube transport truck was traveling from the direction of Cibadak District, Sukabumi Regency to Sukabumi City.

However, due to the condition of the traffic flow at the scene, the speed of the vehicle was hampered or creeped.

At a time when the vehicle and factory employees had just disbanded, suddenly a big explosion occurred originating from the truck carrying the CNG tube.

After the explosion, a number of residents fell on the highway, such as motorbike riders and pedestrians. The explosion also caused two tubes to bounce into the air one fell in the plantation area and another hit a Suzuki Vitara car.

Panicn residents run away from the CNG tube transport truck. Cibadak Police personnel and Sukabumi Police Traffic Unit who happened to be not far from the scene then conducted a sweep of the victim where in this incident nine people were injured and another died on the spot.

"All victims have been evacuated to Sekarwangi Hospital in Cibadak, but the identity of the victim is still being collected. As of 20.30 WIB, the traffic flow, which was initially jammed due to the incident, was gradually smooth," he added.

Ridwan said that until now a number of police personnel are still regulating the flow of traffic around the scene and several other personnel are conducting a crime scene (TKP) investigation to investigate the cause of the explosion of the CNG tube.
