The Provision Of Legal Aid For Firli Bahuri Will Be Decided Together With 4 KPK Leaders

Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Johanis Tanak said the decision to provide legal assistance to the inactive KPK chairman Firli Bahuri would be carried out collectively at the leadership level.

Because, he said, the KPK always prioritizes the principle of collegial collective in every decision making.

"When it comes to whether the KPK will provide assistance, this is certainly not decided by one leader. Because there are 5 leaders in the KPK and now there are only 4, it remains in the nature of decision making, which is a collegial collective," explained Tanak to reporters, Saturday, November 25.

For your information, Firli Bahuri has been named a suspect in the alleged extortion case against former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).

"If then there are leaders who say that they will provide legal assistance, then it will be reconsidered based on the results of the joint meeting and decided together by each leader (KPK)," said Tanak.

As previously reported, Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Johanis Tanak said that he only found out that Firli Bahuri was disabled as Chairman of the KPK from mass media coverage.

The Presidential Decree (Keppres) signed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Friday night, November 24, has not been received.

"Well, we have not received (the Presidential Decree) ourselves dismissal (Firli Bahuri, ed), we have just received information from media friends," Johanis told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Saturday morning, November 25.

Johanis hopes that Firli's dismissal of Presidential Decree will soon be accepted. Likewise with the decree to appoint KPK Deputy Chair Nawawi Pomolango as Acting Chairman of the KPK.

It is known that Nawawi was chosen to be the executor of the task after Firli was disabled because he was a suspect in the alleged extortion or acceptance of gratuities from former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo. This case is being investigated by the Polda Metro Jaya.

"Hopefully on Monday we have received a decree to dismiss Mr. Firli as a temporary dismissal as chairman and we also hope that Pak Nawawi's temporary appointment decision letter as chairman will be obtained soon," he said.
