JAKARTA - New York Mayor Eric Adams sexually harassed in the past, in court documents filed on Wednesday evening.
The document states that the plaintiff received an 'attack' by Adams in 1993, "while they were both working for the City of New York".
The lawsuit was filed under the Adult Survivors Act in New York State which expires on Friday.
The state law provides a one-year period for survivors of sexual harassment to file lawsuits that should be blocked under restriction laws.
The three-page court summons contains few details of the alleged assault, but says the filing is related to "unwilling and negligent acts and negligence of physical, psychological and other injuries suffered as a result of acts that constitute sexual offenses", as reported by the BBC 24 November.
The woman demanded compensation of USD 5 million, the document added.
At the time the allegations were filed, Adams was working as a police officer in New York City. The summons also mentioned the New York Police Department transit bureau and a social organization for officers, called the Guard Association.
Speaking to CBS News on Thursday afternoon, Adams said "the allegations were not at all".
"I don't even remember who this person is, I never remember meeting them," said the mayor.
"I spend my life protecting people, I spend my life giving back, and I will continue to do that. There are many things going on in this city, and I am focused on making sure that happens," he said.
It is known that former president Donald Trump and film producer Harvey Weinstein were among those sued under the Adult Survivors Act in New York State.
A plaintiff's lawyer praised the importance of the law, which they said had "given so many women the opportunity to seek justice".
The summons is the latest legal blow to Adams, a Democratic Party politician, who is facing an investigation into the 2021 mayor's campaign funding.
Earlier this month FBI agents raided his apartment and confiscated three electronic devices, believed to be two iPhones and an iPad.

The raids came after a similar raid on Brianna Siggs's residence, 25, a lobbyist and former Adams aide in Brooklyn.
