JAKARTA - Presidential Candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto promised to overcome the problem of malnutrition or stunting if elected as the 8th President. Prabowo said that he would intervene in the nutrition of children and mothers so that the stunting rate, which is currently above 20 percent, could decrease by 10 percent in his three years in office.

"So now the problem of stunting due to poverty, we will give nutrition intervention directly to their children," Prabowo said in the Muhammadiyah Open Dialogue with the Nation Leader at Muhammadiyah University Surabaya which was broadcast live on Youtube Tv-Mu, Friday, November 24.

Prabowo said that ideally the provision of complete nutrition is indeed three times a day. However, his party will provide a free lunch at least once.

Giving one complete nutritional diet, said Prabowo, is enough than not at all like today.

"I ask, it is better for us to continue now that we are not given one meal, ideally three meals, we at least one meal, calorie needs, then protein percentage, we give one meal at least we have given one by three," said Prabowo.

"But if we properly calculate that one time eating enough protein components will help, and mothers who have difficulty having income, they will feel the burden is reduced, the children's party is more than one, we have reduced the burden on them," he explained.

According to Prabowo, one free meal is an equal distribution of justice for the Indonesian people. This policy, he said, was also carried out by many other countries to prepare good human resources for the future.

"If we look at many other countries for lunch, this is one way to equalize social justice, overcome malnutrition, prepare human resources in the future," said the Minister of Defense.

"If we look at many of our people, I'm surprised by the numbers I received, if I'm not mistaken, the numbers are extraordinary, now 2023 is 39 percent, so many people, schools are just malnourished, let alone malnourished," he continued.

The general chairman of the Gerindra Party then revealed that the experiment related to the value of children's schools was held only by giving two eggs. He is optimistic that if Indonesian children are given eggs every day, Indonesian human resources in the future will become superior human resources.

"The school value experiment increases with only two eggs, especially every day we give eggs, we give milk. So I am a bit optimistic that I will be able to get (benefits) directly," he said.

Prabowo promised, if he is given a mandate by the people elected as president in 2024 then in the next three years, the stunting rate will drop to below 10 percent and even close to zero percent.

"I am sure that if I am given a mandate of 3 years in office, I believe stunting will be below 10 percent. I am very optimistic that it can be close to zero, because we directly intervene in children, we also intervene in our mothers," he said.

"Yes, ideally 3 meals, but if not, at least 1 time, now zero is not helped at all," Prabowo concluded.
