The Boss Of A BUMN Subsidiary Becomes A Suspect In Sugar Procurement Corruption

JAKARTA - Central Jakarta District Attorney's investigators have again named two high-ranking officials, one of the state-owned subsidiaries with the initials ES (49) and DIA (49) as suspects for alleged corruption in sugar purchase transactions on Tuesday, November 21.

ES was named a suspect after allegedly not carrying out the company's rules or Good Corporate Governance related to the white crystal sugar procurement project.

Meanwhile, DIA is known to have not carried out a verification process from the existence, physical and volume of crystalline white sugar in the process of buying and selling with PT Tani Nusantara.

"The suspect ES and DIA were detained for 20 days starting from November 21, 2023 to December 10, 2023," said Head of the Central Jakarta District Attorney's Office, Safrianto Zuriat Putra when confirmed by VOI, Tuesday, November 21, evening.

The two suspects ES and DIA were charged with Article 2 paragraph (1) Jo. Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crimes Jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code Subsidair Article 3 Jo.

Then, Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes Jo. Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crimes Jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.

"The suspect ES is being held at the Class IIA Salemba Penitentiary in Central Jakarta. Meanwhile, the suspect is being held at the Salemba Class I Detention Center, Central Jakarta," he said.

In the action, the suspects ES and DIA were not alone. The two conspired with three other suspects with the initials RA, HS and HRJ who had been previously detained by the Central Jakarta Kejari. As a result of the actions of the suspects, state finances were harmed by Rp571,860,000,000.
