Mark Zuckerberg Showcases A Luxury Watch Of IDR 14.5 Billion When Announces Meta Policy Changes

JAKARTA - Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Meta, is again stealing the public's attention. Not only because of the new policy he announced, but also because of the luxury accessories he wore at the announcement.

Currently, Zuckerberg is controversial to the point of getting criticism from independent fact-checkers around the world. This is because Zuckerberg deleted the fact-verification system by third parties on Facebook and Instagram applications.

When opening his voice via his personal Instagram, Zuckerberg's luxury watches became the public spotlight. Reported by VOI from the NY Post page on Friday, January 10, 2025, he wore a rare Swiss watch.

The luxury watch is Greubel Forsey Hand Made 1 which is on his left wrist. According to a Bloomberg report, the watch is worth around USD 900.000 or IDR 14.5 billion.

This handmade watch from Greubel Forsey is very rare and expensive, because only two or three units are produced annually. This mechanical clock is sold for USD 895,500 before tax.

According to Forbes, Zuckerberg, who is the third richest person in the world with a net worth of USD 214.7 billion or IDR 3.4 quadrillion, has recently shown interest in a collection of watches. Previously, he was seen wearing models from brands such as Patek Philippe and FP Journe.

However, Greubel Forsey's watch choice shows that Zuckerberg's interest in the world of watch collections has increased, considering the company only produces a few hundred watches each year.

Zuckerberg's Hand Made 1 model in the video was made almost entirely by Greubel Forsey, a process that takes hundreds of hours to work.

"It's a pleasure to see someone play an important role in shaping this modern digital landscape, he shows true appreciation for the traditional approach to making today's luxury watches," Greubel Forsey CEO Michel Nydegger told Bloomberg.

Nydegger took over as CEO of Greubel Forsey last year, after the company decided to cancel plans to increase production and lower their average watch price by around half a million dollars.

In the online market, Greubel Forsey's used watches are sold for around USD 150,000 to USD 300,000 (around IDR 2.4 to IDR 4.8 billion).
