Acting Governor of Central Java (Central Java) Nana Sudjana targets the handling of extreme poverty in Central Java to be completed by 2024.

"The percentage of extreme poverty in Central Java in 2022 is 1.97 percent, and currently it has fallen 0.87 percent to 1.1 percent, so we are targeting it to be completed in 2024," said Nana Sudjana in Semarang, Monday, November 13, quoted by Antara.

For the reduction in extreme poverty, Nana said, Central Java Province received an award from the central government in the form of fiscal incentives worth IDR 5.79 billion.

"Of the 38 provinces, only seven provinces were awarded, including Central Java. This is a matter of pride, but it has not been completed because the target for extreme poverty in 2024 must be zero percent," he said.

Therefore, he continued, all levels of the Central Java Provincial Government still have to work hard to achieve the target of reducing extreme poverty in order to improve people's welfare.

According to him, there are eight target components intervened by the Central Java Provincial Government to accelerate poverty reduction, namely repairing uninhabitable houses, installing free electricity, water sources, latrines, handling tengkes (stunting), non-school children, disabilities, and individuals who do not work.

In addition to using the state budget, various parties are also partnered with the Central Java Provincial Government to meet the financing needs of poverty alleviation through the social responsibility of private companies, BUMN, BUMD, amil zakat institutions, and philanthropic communities.

The Central Java Provincial Government is currently focusing on eradicating extreme poverty in 17 districts, namely Banjarnegara, Banyumas, Blora, Brebes, Cilacap, Demak, Grobogan, Kebumen, Klaten, Magelang, Pemalang, Purbalingga, Purworejo, Rembang, Sragen, Wonogiri, and Wonosobo whose poverty is still above the average province and nationally.
