Sumiatun Becomes First Female Regent In West Lombok

Acting Governor of West Nusa Tenggara Lalu Gita Ariadi inaugurated Sumiatun as the first female regent in West Lombok Regency, Monday.Inauguration of Sumiatun, who previously served as Deputy Regent of West Lombok, to replace Regent Fauzan Khalid who resigned because he registered as a candidate for legislative member of the DPR.The Decree of the Minister of Home Affairs which stipulates Sumiatun as Regent of West Lombok will be valid until December 31, 2023 or only serve for about one and a half months. This refers to Law Number 10 of 2016 concerning the Election of Governors, Regents, and Mayors, that regional heads resulting from the 2018 Pilkada end their term of office until December 2023. Acting Governor of NTB Gita Ariadi in his direction asked the Regent of West Lombok Sumiatun to ensure economic stability and price of affordable staples for the community, as well as maintain social stability in welcoming the political year. "With the presence of the regent in West Lombok will be able to create a conducive atmosphere ahead of elections and elections in 2024," he said.

Miq Gite, sapaan akrabnya, juga meminta Bupati Lombok Barat untuk mempererat sinergidengan forkopimda, tokoh agama, tokoh masyarakat, dan seluruh lapisan masyarakat untuk menciptakan suasana yang kondusif menyambut Pemilu dan Pilkada 2023.Ia berharap seluruh pihak menyambut tahun politik dengan riang gembira agar pemilu dan pilkada dapat berlangsung aman tanpa adanya konflik berkepanjangan."Mari kita menyambut pesta demokrasi dengan riang gembira, jauh dari konflik berkepanjangan," katanya.
