Not Wanting To Lose In Global Competition, Vice President Asks The Health Ecosystem To Continue Innovation

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin emphasized that innovation and technology in the health sector are the faces of a nation's civilization.

The Vice President requested that innovation and technology be the lifeblood in the transformation of the health sector that is being carried out.

"We have to be serious that innovation and health technology are the face of future civilization. Innovation and health technology will answer the modern public's need for health services that are solution, practical, fast, easy and affordable," said the Vice President in his remarks on the 59th National Health Day in Jakarta, Thursday, November 9, which was confiscated by Antara.

The Vice President said that as a large country that is blessed by Allah Swt with abundant natural and human resources, the Indonesian nation must tighten efforts in innovation and mastery of technology so that the Indonesian people are not left behind in various fields of development, including the health sector.

According to him, innovation will grow in a health ecosystem that has a desire to change. "Therefore, let's work together to continue to improve innovation in our health systems and services, lest our health system fail to meet the needs of the community and lose in global competition," he explained.

He said that symbiosis between innovation, technology and health will give birth to an important principle in health services, namely efficiency. He reminded that innovation is not only about the discovery of advanced technology but also a creative way of thinking in utilizing their natural resources.

"We can learn from developed countries that have succeeded in integrating traditional medicines into their health systems," said the Vice President.

He said Indonesia is rich in traditional medicinal plants, with thousands of plant species growing which are known to have properties as drugs.

Even though only a small part of it is used as raw material for the traditional medicine industry, such as temulawak, jinten, kulaga and also Lawang flowers. Let's empower this traditional knowledge and cultural heritage to produce the widest benefit for public health," said the Vice President.

The vice president also welcomed it because TEAM was named Indonesia's leading medicinal plant. He hopes that this step can support the achievement of the independence of the domestic pharmaceutical industry.

"I ask to be considered and maintained in quality, supervise this product from temulawak so that it is safe for people to consume. For traditional medicines that have been standardized and recognized as quality products so that they continue to be promoted and encouraged so that they are able to compete with similar products from other countries such asngseng and so on," he said.
