TPN Ganjar-Mahfud Regrets Anwar Usman Remains A Constitutional Court Judge Even Though He Was Removed From The Position Of Chair

JAKARTA - The Ganjar-Mahfud MD National Winning Team appreciates the decision of the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK) asking Anwar Usman to be removed as Chairman of the Constitutional Court. But TPN regretted that President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) brother-in-law was not dismissed as a judge.

"We actually hope that MKMK will decide that the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Anwar Usman will not only be dismissed as the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court but also be dismissed as a Constitutional Court Judge," said TPN Chairman Ganjar-Mahfud, Arsjad Rasjid at a press conference at the TPN Media Center, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, November 7.

Even so, Arsjad is grateful that Anwar will no longer be able to handle disputes related to general elections (elections).

"MKMK has restored trust or trust in the Constitutional Court. Hopefully the Constitutional Court will be able to truly become the guardian of the constitution, the guardian of the constitution," he said.

Previously, the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK) imposed sanctions in the form of dismissal of Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Anwar Usman from his position. He was declared to have violated the code of ethics and behavior in deciding the case of the presidential and vice presidential age limit.

MKMK in the decision No.2/MKMK/L/10/2023 said Anwar was proven to have violated the Code of Ethics and Conduct of Constitutional Justices as stated in the Sapta Karsa Hutama.

"Imposing sanctions for dismissal from the position of Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court to the Reported Judge," said Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Jimly Asshiddiqie while reading the verdict at the Constitutional Court Building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, November 7.

One of the conclusions of the MKMK called Anwar Usman was proven to have deliberately opened up the space for outside intervention in the process of taking the 90/PUU-XXI/2023 decision, thus violating the Sapta Karsa Hutama, the Independence Principle, the Implementation of the Numbers 1, 2, and 3.

In addition, he was proven to have violated the principles of impartiality, the principle of integrity, the principle of competence and equality, and the principle of independence.
