JAKARTA - Special Crime Investigators at the East Nusa Tenggara High Court (Kejati NTT) have arrested 2 suspects in the case of transfer of government land assets in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency.
"The two suspects have since last night been detained by investigators at the NTT High Court," said Head of the Legal Information and Public Relations Section of the NTT Prosecutor's Office, Abdul Hakim, quoted by Antara, Friday, February 12.
The two suspects detained are ZD, the son of one of the suspects in the case of transfer of land assets in Labuan Bajo who died and FH, an employee of the West Manggarai Regency Government.
According to him, the two were detained by the NTT Attorney General's Office after being named suspects because they were deemed to have obstructed the investigation process in the case of the transfer of land assets covering an area of 30 hectares belonging to the West Manggarai Regency Government which cost the state Rp1.3 trillion.
Abdul Hakim said the two suspects had previously been witnesses by the NTT High Prosecutor's Office in the land case in Labuan Bajo.
However, Abdul Hakim added, when giving testimony at the pretrial hearing brought by the Regent of West Manggarai, Agustisnus Ch Dulla, both of them gave false statements.
Regent Agustinus is already a suspect in the case of transferring land assets in Labuan Bajo.
"The information they gave was different in court and that which was conveyed to the investigators. So there was an attempt to obstruct the investigator's process," said Abdul Hakim.
He emphasized that the two suspects were detained at the NTT High Prosecutor's Office at 23.00 Wita because it was already late so they could not be taken to the Kupang detention center.
"This case is a lesson so that we don't play games with the law. If you provide information it must be true," he said.
To find out, two suspects, ZD and FH, were arrested by the investigating team of the NTT High Prosecutor's Office on Thursday, February 11 at one of the lawyers' houses in Kupang City.
