Police Corruption: Customs Officer Dedi Congor Suspected of Gratification Case

JAKARTA - The National Police's Corruption Eradication Task Force (Kortastipidkor) stated that the Customs Functional Officer, Deputy, Ahmad Dedi alias Dedi Congor, has been named a suspect in the alleged gratification case.

"The case of accepting gifts or promises/gratitude. The suspect was appointed in 2023," said Head of Operations of the National Police's Corruption and Crime Investigation Directorate, Kombes Ahmad Yusuf Afandi, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 11.

He said this in response to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) which said that Dedi Congor had been named a suspect by the National Police.

Yusuf explained that the time of the alleged gratification case that ensnared Dedi was in 2008-2016.

The case was investigated in 2017 and in 2023, Dedi was named a suspect. However, Yusuf did not explain Dedi's role in this case.

Currently, the case is at P-19 stage or the process of returning the criminal case file by the public prosecutor (JPU) to the police investigators.

"Currently, investigators are fulfilling P-19 as a research prosecutor," he said.

Previously, Acting Director of KPK Investigation Achmad Taufik Husein said that the investigation into the alleged corruption case in the environment of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance was still ongoing, even though Dedi Congor as the Deputy Customs and Excise Officer had been named a suspect by the National Police.

He explained that the KPK would continue to investigate Dedi Congor because the object of the case under investigation was different from that investigated by the National Police.

"Of course we have not arrested the suspect. However, we will definitely arrest the suspect because there is already an investigation order," he said.

The KPK previously carried out a hand-in-hand operation in the Customs environment and named six people as suspects.

They are Rizal as the Director of Customs Enforcement and Investigation for the period 2024-January 2026 and is currently serving as the Head of the West Sumatra Customs Regional Office, Head of the Intelligence Directorate of Customs Enforcement and Investigation Sisprian Subiaksono, and Head of the Intelligence Section of Customs Orlando Hamonangan.

In addition, the KPK also named Blueray Cargo owner John Field, Blueray Cargo Import Documentation Team Head Andri, and Blueray Cargo Operations Manager Dedy Kurniawan as suspects.
